Unlike relying on willpower, binding creates systems that make healthier choices easier and more automatic over time.

Dr. Lisa compares food addiction to substance addiction, highlighting that some of us may need firmer boundaries with hyperpalatable foods, not because there's something wrong with us, but because many foods have been engineered to hook us. While no foods are truly forbidden, experimenting with categorical binding can help reduce cravings and improve long-term habits—especially when done with flexibility and self-compassion.
